Going through a breakup and letting go of a relationship can be extremely difficult. However, meditation can help you gain a few moments of calm and ease even amidst emotional turmoil. Here’s a letting go meditation script.
A Letting Go Meditation Script
Take a few moments to get settled in your space. Try to find a quiet, comfortable place in your home that you feel peaceful in. You can opt to sit down or lie down, whichever feels better for you. Closing your eyes is only an option.
As you sit or lie down, become aware of your body. You can begin with a brief body scan, or you can just notice the weight of your body against the surface that you are resting on.
Take a deep breath in, and a long breath out. Tune in with your body once again and notice sensations that are making themselves felt in your body. Notice pockets of tension that your body may be holding. For example, is your upper back tight? Or does your chest feel heavy?
Do not judge these sensations or try to fight them off. Simply take a step back and observe them, and maybe ask yourself: what are these sensations communicating? Oftentimes, feelings of distress and discomfort may be a call to rest, move, or make use of any resources that may help you heal.
Then, begin to soften and relax those tense and stiff areas. With every inhalation, feel those areas expanding. And with every exhalation, feel those parts of you become softer and more at ease.
Finally, repeat the following affirmations to yourself: I am a being of love. My wounds are healing. I have power over my life.
When you are ready, begin to wiggle your fingers and your toes. Notice the sounds that you can hear around you. Then, open your eyes.
