Some people wake up naturally early and feeling good about it. Some simply just find it a daily struggle to get out of bed. And then there is the problem of actually waking up with the cobwebs in your head all cleaned up; not to mention the fact that you need energy to keep yourself awake throughout the day.
There are a lot of things you can do to wake up in the morning feeling refreshed, but for today, let’s focus on one effective thing you can do: have the right early morning drink.
Coffee? Sure, why not?
It does wake you up, and it can keep you going throughout the day. Coffee may not be the best option, however, especially if you have an acidic stomach. If you’re not a coffee drinker, then it definitely is out of the question.
What to have for an early morning drink that will wake you up then?
Options for that early morning drink
Water
The most obvious, and yet underutilized, drink is water!
The body needs water more than any other liquid, and it has long been proven that drinking water in the morning has a lot of benefits. Drinking water in the morning balances your lymph system, which helps your body function normally. It also flushes out toxins and boosts your metabolism, which energizes you.
So why not drink water the first thing in the morning? Not only will you feel better waking up but you’ll also help your body function better throughout the day.
Lemon water
Pure water is good, but you can put a bit of punch to it by adding lemon to the mix. This is especially enticing if you don’t really like drinking plain water.
To make lemon water, you just need to add a slice of lemon to a large glass of water. Even better, before you go to bed, put some water in a pitcher and add several slices of lemon. Place the pitcher in the fridge – or leave it out on the kitchen counter – and then you just need to pour water in a glass when you wake up in the morning.
More than providing flavor to your early morning drink, lemon water hydrates just as much as plain water, with the added benefits of helping deal with constipation, battle bad breath, and pump up your immune system.
Green tea
Green tea is already a popular choice among people who want a hot energizing drink which does not have that jittery effect that coffee sometimes have. It is thus a good alternative early morning drink.
Aside from small caffeine content that wakes you up, green tea also has amino acid L-theanine, which decreases anxiety and provides stable energy, as well as increases focus.

Apple cider vinegar
This early morning drink is probably the least appealing in this list, but it could just be me. However, I decided to include it because I’ve heard about the benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar – and not only in the morning.
If you want to start your day with the right drink that will be a source of stable energy throughout the day, then you may want to give this a try.
MPMK has a simple recipe.
- 1-2 tsp. Bragg apple cider vinegar (raw, unfiltered, ‘with the mother’)
- 8-12 oz. water
That’s it!
Aside from providing energy, apple cider vinegar also improves the digestive system.
In conclusion
This is not to say that you should never ever drink coffee in the morning. I would be a liar if I say I don’t do that, but if you are looking for an alternative that’s healthier, then you can start with the above drinks.
Let us know how it goes for you.
