And after all this reading, and a lot of pondering, too, I couldn’t help but start to notice the threads—the little themes that seem to weave through many of these stories. And so, today, I’d like to share what I believe to be the most prevalent and most powerful of those common threads, namely:
You gotta relax a little.
Now, the word “relax” isn’t always supposed to be seen as a good thing—not in spiritual circles, anyway. A lot of times, we well-meaning believers encourage each other to “pray more,” “say more affirmations,” “try this new technique.” And it’s not just other people—people who’ve been doing this for a long time and are much more experienced, spiritually-speaking, than me.
