Yesterday, we talked about self-doubt and some questions you can ask yourself to help determine if you’re struggling with the issue. If you’re reading this, then the chances are that you have realized that you are suffering from a case of self-doubtitis. Yeah, I made that up.

It’s not really funny, though, if you constantly second guess yourself and lack the confidence to make decisions, do things that you’ve always wanted to do, can’t handle compliments, and so on.

The mind is a powerful tool, and most of our life issues can be conquered by training the mind. One of the ways we can train our mind is to identify mantras which can change the way we see things.

Simple Definition of mantra

  • : a sound, word, or phrase that is repeated by someone who is praying or meditating

  • : a word or phrase that is repeated often or that expresses someone’s basic beliefs

You may already have phrases that you repeat to yourself to boost your confidence before an important meeting, or maybe you have your go-to Bible verse for when you’re starting to lose it. They are mantras in themselves, but if you need more, here are some personal motivational mantras for a better you.

While the definition of success is relative, there is one common thread in all of those definitions: a goal.

Goals can be:

  • raise mindful children to become well-adjusted adults
  • create a home environment where each family wants to come home to
  • become a leader in your field
  • make X amount of money in X years
  • reach a certain position at work within X years

Whatever your definition of success is, you need to have certain habits that will take you to the realization of your goals. With many pieces written about habits of successful people, I’d like to go the opposite route and look at habits that keep you from being successful.
